In December 2019, I finally started and kept a workout routine. I started going to the gym until April 2020, and since then, I've done my workouts at home.
I'm not a professional trainer or nutritionist. Please speak to a professional about your specific needs and what works best for you.
I will share my favorite products and tips on how I kept up my routine.

I can do anything at the gym while watching Netflix or Hulu (Be safe, this can be dangerous). It makes the time go by fast.
My favorite activities at the Gym
The Stair Mill
Walking on the treadmill at the highest incline
Rowing Machine
Equipment at Home
I've had a rowing machine on my wish list for a while now. It's a full-body workout that I can do while watching any show.
My housemate plans to add a gym corner to the basement, which is where I'll put it.
The Concept2 Model D (affiliate link) has been at the top of my list. It has the best ratings in most of the blogs I've read.
However, if any of my readers have purchased and used a more affordable option that they love, I'd love to know in the comments!
I've included some lower-cost options with excellent ratings.
Treadmills I've been considering:
I'd love to own a stair mill or a step machine, but they are so difficult to find online! I've seen a few options, but the ratings are not excellent.
Hopefully, as they gain popularity in the gyms, more options will become available, as with the rowing machine.
Dumbbells
I own a pair of 3lb, 5lb, 8lb, 10lb, and 12lb dumbbells.
The 3, 5, and 8 lb dumbbells were bought in this set(affiliate link).
I recommend starting low and slowly building up the collection.
The pandemic caused the price of dumbbells to soar at a ridiculous rate.
Here are some similar sets if those prices are currently high:
These are the 10 & 12lb I purchased:
Other Home Gym Essentials
TRX Band (affiliate link)
I love using a TRX band for most of my workouts. (I bought the Basic Kit.) It helps relieve the pressure from my knees during variations of squats and lunges and relieves pressure from my wrists with angled pushups.
I use it on my door and take it with me on the road to use in my hotel room.

Compact Travel Yoga Mats:
Other Essentials
Hair Ties
AirPods
I own the first version of the original AirPods. They work just fine and long enough for a regular workout, but the battery life is starting to drive me a little nuts.
Budget-wise, I'd recommend them. No Budget? I'd try the newer versions.
Apple Watch
I have the 38mm, three series in gold, and it works perfectly fine. But, honestly, I won't work out without it because it's too satisfying to see the data results and keep track.
I'm in no rush to upgrade, but the newer series do keep coming out with neat features like fall detection.
The Professionals:
If you'd prefer to follow along with professional trainers,
I recommend Megan Milliecam
She has free workout videos on her Instagram IGTV feed, and I'd done 80% of them. She's great because he offers modifications for different levels of fitness.
Once you finish those, she has classes available on Teachable.
Occasionally I like to follow along with PopSugar Fitness on Youtube.
